Hanzo's Allied Synergies

Hanzo's top support heroes:

1)  Mercy:  Mercy works very well with Hanzo.  Her healing works tremendously great with Hanzo since he doesn't roam to far away from the team in general and his slow mobility to reach health packs only makes Mercy's healing even more important.  Mercy's healing tends to be more powerful over other support healers when it comes to healing Hanzo.

Mercy's damage boosting beam also works well with Hanzo.  Damage boosting Hanzo's Scatter Arrow shots and even regular bow shots is deadly, especially when the player is really good with Hanzo's aiming.

Hanzo is an average hero for Mercy to follow around as far as safety goes.  Hanzo doesn't play to offensively and stays back with his team more so than other attackers and is usually somewhat safe for Mercy to support.  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can warn Mercy of incoming flankers, allowing her to fly to another ally for safety in time.

Resurrect is very beneficial for Hanzo since he is somewhat slow at getting back to the fight faster after dying and will greatly benefit from getting resurrected.  Not to mention that when Hanzo dies, he is usually within range of Mercy for Resurrect to work on him.

2)  Lucio:  Lucio's heal aura is beneficial with Hanzo, not as potent as Mercy's healing beam, but it's enough to keep Hanzo from running for health packs.  Lucio's speed aura can give Hanzo an occasional speed boost to help him dodge enemy ultimates, or to run him back to the fight faster after dying.  Keep in mind that Lucio's auras only work when you stay within 30 meters of each other and keep line of sight with him as well.

Lucio can use his Soundwave ability to knock back deadly close up enemies away from Hanzo such as Mei's freeze gun, Reinhardt's rocket hammer and Reaper's shotguns.

Lucio's ultimate Sound Barrier allows Hanzo to withstand a lot of damage for a short period of time, that can allow Hanzo to move up close to the enemy to get easier shots off more effectively.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrows can allow Lucio to see enemies before they come around a corner, giving him more precise control over spamming his sonic projectiles.  Sonic Arrow can also help Lucio plan to knock an enemy into a pit with Soundwave as they walk around a corner, this tends be helpful on many Control maps.

3)  Symmetra:  Symmetra's Photon Shield is very beneficial to Hanzo since it's usually a hassle for Hanzo to reach health packs due to his poor mobility.  Photon Shields simply help keep Hanzo in the fight longer.

Symmetra's Sentry Turrets can slow down targets giving Hanzo an easier time lining up Scatter Arrow shots or simply shooting at his enemies in those situations.  Sentry Turrets can also guard choke points leading to Hanzo's position, Symmetra can then warn Hanzo of incoming attackers coming his way.

Hanzo greatly benefits from Symmetra's Teleporter due to his slow mobility of getting back to the fight after death.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can help Symmetra start firing Photon Orbs even before enemies come within view of her.  Normally Photon Orbs travel very slowly, but when combined with Sonic Arrow it greatly enhances the accuracy of hitting something coming around a corner.

4)  Zenyatta:  Zenyatta's Harmony Orb works great with Hanzo since the two are usually within line of sight of each other, so the Orb should stay on Hanzo most of the time, and Hanzo is a great target for the Harmony Orb in general due to his slow mobility to reach health packs.

Zenyatta's Discord Orb makes shooting down enemies much faster for Hanzo.  Since Zenyatta and Hanzo stay somewhat close to each other, the target who has the Discord Orb is usually within Hanzo's sight.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Zenyatta to rev up charged volley orb shots against enemies just about to come around walls/corners and allowing Zenyatta to make more informed decision on avoiding offensive flankers.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike combined with Zenyatta's ultimate Transcendence can be a powerful combination to make a push successful.  Transcendence in general can allow Hanzo to move out in the open towards the front lines more without worrying about getting killed (as much) for a few seconds.

5)  Ana:  Besides Hanzo's wall climb ability, he will have an overall slower time reaching for health packs so he greatly benefits from Ana's Biotic Rifle healing shots to keep him in the fight often.  Hanzo also benefits a lot from Ana's Biotic Grenades, especially if another healing source is on him while he is attacking (this allows you to receive double healing).

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow allows Ana to launch a Biotic Grenade or Sleep Dart at enemies coming around corners and can warn her of incoming flankers.

Ana's ultimate Nano Boost can be very deadly with a highly skilled Hanzo player.  The extra speed allows Hanzo to move a bit quicker while revving up bow shots and will greatly increase his chance of overall survival.  Nano Boost also makes Hanzo's Dragonstrike more deadly with increased DPS output.

Hanzo's top tank synergies:

1)  Reinhardt:  Reinhardt's Barrier Field (shield) is extremely valuable to Hanzo.  Hanzo can safely stay out in the open and dish out plenty of DPS behind his shield.  Since Hanzo is not an offensive flanker, he is usually in a position to take advantage of Reinhardt's shield.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Reinhardt to launch a Fire Strike before an enemy comes around a wall/corner, potentially getting an easy hit on an enemy.  Sonic Arrow can also allow Reinhardt to start doing a Charge even before an enemy comes within view.

Reinhardt's ultimate Earthshatter can pair well with Dragonstrike, as the knocked down victims from an Earthshatter will be unable to run away from the Dragonstrike.

Sometimes a Dragonstrike can give Reinhardt a good opportunity to Charge at one of the fleeing enemies.

2)  Winston:  Winston's Barrier Projector is Hanzo's best friend.  Hanzo can safely dish out damage from inside Winston's Barrier Projector.  If Hanzo is in trouble somewhere, Winston can Leap to your rescue and then put down a barrier to further protect you from additional damage.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Winston to start leaping towards an enemy right before they come around a corner, potentially taking the victim by surprise and allowing Winston to kill the victim with his Tesla Cannon.  Sonic Arrow can also help Winston's ultimate Primal Rage by giving him more information on where to chase and leap after his enemies more effectively.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can combo with Winston's ultimate Primal Rage by allowing Winston to knock enemies into the spiral dragons.  Primal Rage can also knock enemies away from Hanzo, potentially keeping him alive more efficiently.

3)  Zarya:  Zarya's Projected Particle Barriers can help Hanzo survive in harsh situations, especially when he is getting flanked.  But since Hanzo is a defensive hero he is usually not a prime candidate for Zarya's Projected Barriers, like offensive allied attackers usually are.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Zarya to lob her explosive charge shots more effectively before enemies come around walls/corners, and it can allow her to make more informed decisions on where to lead her team to.

Zarya's ultimate Graviton Surge pairs well with Hanzo's Dragonstrike, as it will totally wipe out all the clumped up enemies in the surge.

4)  Roadhog:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow allows Roadhog to prepare a Chain Hook before an enemy comes around a corner/wall.

Roadhog's ultimate Whole Hog can scatter enemies around giving Hanzo an easier time to pick off disoriented enemies from the knock backs of Whole Hog.  Whole Hog can also be paired decently with Dragonstrike as the knocked back enemies can have a harder time dodging the Dragonstrike.

5)  D.va:  D.va can use her Boosters to knock down enemies, making it easier for Hanzo to fire bow shots at the knocked down enemies.  D.va's Defense Matrix can provide some nice temporary protection for Hanzo allowing him to safely stay out in the open to dish out damage.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can give information to D.va allowing her to use her Boosters more effectively to flank enemies and to stay out of too much danger.  It can also allow D.va to launch her ultimate Self-Destruct towards a bunch of targets hidden behind walls.

A Dragonstrike combined with D.va's launched Self-Destruct can really confuse the enemy on where to run to and can potentially wipe a few enemies out in the process.

Hanzo also pairs well with:

1)  Soldier 76:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Soldier 76 to shoot Helix Rockets right before an enemy comes around a corner.  This also makes using  Soldier 76's ultimate Tactical Visor safer and more effective.  Soldier 76 can also chase fleeing enemies more effectively as well.

Hanzo greatly benefits from Soldier 76's Biotic Fields healing effects as he is will usually around Soldier 76's same area to take advantage of it.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can make Soldier 76's Tactical Visor safer and more effective due to the scattered enemies fleeing away from the Dragonstrike.

2)  Torbjorn:  Torbjorn can provide armor packs for Hanzo, which will provide some extra protection.  Armor obtained from armor packs cannot be healed and you will have to pick up a new armor pack to obtain more armor.  Luckily, Hanzo is usually not to far from Torbjorn and can get new armor packs easier than offensive heroes can.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can allow Torbjorn to fire his Rivet Gun before enemies come around corners, and it can allow him to take cover in time if he needs to.  Sonic Arrows can also allow Torbjorn to safely run around and pick up Scrap, as the Sonic Arrow can reveal incoming threats in the area.

Hanzo can potentially launch a Dragonstrike to make enemies flee into Torbjorn's turret to take them out.  Torbjorn can also combine this strategy with Molten Core to make it even more powerful.

3)  Junkrat:  Junkrat greatly benefits from Hanzo's Sonic Arrows.  This can allow Junkrat to aim his Frag Launcher more effectively to bounce grenades off of walls into rooms/hallways, potentially hitting enemies that he couldn't see otherwise.

Junkrat can place his Steel Trap and Concussive Mines in places to guard choke points leading up to Hanzo's position, further protecting him from offensive flankers.

Both Dragonstrike and Junkrat's ultimate Rip-Tire force enemies to run and hide.  The both combined can be a powerful method of clearing enemies away from an objective or Payload.  They can also be used to initiate a strong push.

4)  Mei:  Mei can freeze targets up close and Hanzo can finish off the frozen targets with Storm Bow headshots, this can allow Mei to continue to freeze more enemies without worrying about using Icicles to finish off the frozen targets.

Hanzo can use Mei's Cryo-Freeze as a shield to get behind to help reduce damage.  Mei's Ice Wall can provide another shield for Hanzo to shield damage from.  Hanzo can also climb Mei's Ice Wall, allowing him to position himself differently to deal with ground heroes more effectively such as Reinhardt and an enemy Mei's freeze gun.

Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can provide a lot of information to Mei about when to put up an Ice Wall to block incoming attackers and prepares her to shoot Icicles before enemies come within view.  At the start of a match, Hanzo and Mei can figure out which door the attackers are about to come out at with the help of Sonic Arrows.  Mei can then get ready to throw up an Ice Wall once the match starts to lock them into the starting area.

Dragonstrike can pair well with Mei's ultimate Blizzard.  Blizzard will slow and then freeze targets, potentially making them unable to run away from a Dragonstrike in time.

5)  Widowmaker:  Both Hanzo and Widowmaker have similar roles, abilities and uses on the battlefield.  They are both snipers that are good at dealing with enemies from long range.  They both have ways to maneuver around a map (Widowmaker's grappling hook and Hanzo's climb ability).  They both have ways to see enemies behind walls (Widowmaker's Infra-Sight and Hanzo's Sonic Arrows).  They both have a utility weapon to deal some extra damage to enemies (Widowmaker's Venom Mines and Hanzo's Scatter Arrow.  However, where things are a bit different is Hanzo's ultimate Dragonstrike, as there is nothing else in the game that is really similar to it.

Even though Hanzo's Sonic Arrow works much like Widowmaker's ultimate Infra-Sight, Infra-Sight is simply much more powerful since it lasts longer and lets you see all the enemies on the entire map.  With Hanzo, this can allow him launch a Dragonstrike much more effectively and it can also allow him to position himself on the map better to prepare to deal with his enemies better.

Even Hanzo's Sonic Arrow is still useful for Widowmaker.  When Infra-Sight is not available, Sonic Arrow can allow her to constantly be ready to fire her Sniper Rifle at enemies coming around corners and to make more informed decisions on where to grapple to.

Widowmaker can place her Venom Mines in places where it can potentially protect Hanzo from offensive flankers, providing a little extra DPS to finish off any wondering enemies.

Hanzo's neutral synergies:

6)  Pharah:  Sonic Arrows allow Pharah to start firing rockets before an enemy comes around a corner.  Pharah can also fire a Concussive Blast right before an enemy comes within view, giving them no time to respond to it.  Sonic Arrows also allows Pharah to scout the area out to see if it is safe to use a Jump Jet.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can make it a bit easier for Pharah to use a Jump Jet, due to the scattered enemies.  A Dragonstrike can also make it a tad easier for Pharah to use her ultimate Barrage (but there are better synergies out there for Barrage).  Pharah can also use a Concussive Blast on an enemy to knock them into a Dragonstrike.

7)  Bastion:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can help Bastion see flankers coming up on him better along with allowing him to be able to get ready to shoot at enemies before they come around a corner.  Sonic Arrow also pairs well with Tank Form, as it can allow him to shoot at enemies just around corners, as the splash damage can still reach to them.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can pair well with Tank Form.  The Dragonstrike can make enemies scatter around making it harder for them to dodge cannon shots from Bastion's Tank Form.

8)  Reaper:  Sonic Arrows have some uses for Reaper.  Being able to see enemies behind walls lets Reaper plan his flanks and retreat more safely from a losing fight.  It can make using Shadow Step more informative and safer overall.  Sonic Arrows does not affect Reaper's shotguns much since they are hitscan (instant bullet travel).

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can make Reaper's ultimate Deathblossom a bit safer as the scattered enemies may end up running into the Deathblossom.

9)  McCree:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can help McCree prepare for using his Flashbangs, as he will be able to see enemies right before they come around a corner.  However, due to the instant hitscan nature of McCree's revolver, Sonic Arrow is not overly powerful with McCree.

A Flashbanged enemy from McCree can allow Hanzo to get an easy headshot in once the victim is stunned.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can be paired with McCree's ultimate Deadeye.  A Dragonstrike can make McCree's ultimate Deadeye more successful by confusing enemies, making it harder for them to spot McCree while he is imitating Deadeye.

10)  Genji:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can help Genji track down fleeing enemies, allowing him to Swift Strike to finish a victim off, it can also enable Genji to start firing shurikens before an enemy comes around a corner.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can scatter enemies around giving Genji an easier opportunity to pick off fleeing enemies, and especially combined with Genji's ultimate Dragonblade.

11)  Tracer:  Hanzo's Sonic Arrow can help Tracer make better decisions on where to Blink to, or which room or hallway to go into or avoid.

Hanzo's Dragonstrike can make enemies flee from it, which can give Tracer an easier time to harass the enemies running away from it.

If Tracer is firing at enemies in a small room or hallway, that can signal Hanzo to fire a Scatter Arrow shot in the room with the hopes of taking someone out with it.

12)  Hanzo:  Two Hanzos don't really have any interesting synergies together besides providing twice the long distance fire power and double the amount of Sonic Arrows for allies to see behind walls.  Be mindful where the other Hanzo fires a Sonic Arrow at and launch yours in a different spot to cover more areas.
